In 2021 Natnael Ashebir graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting from the Alle School of Fine Art and Design in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He works across a variety of media, including painting, drawing, digital art, and photography. The core of his exploration is the layers drawn by politicians, social structure, and the process of urbanisation.
In 2021 the artist held his first solo exhibition ‘Layers of Life’ at the Guramayne Art Centre in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He has participated in many group shows in Ethiopia and internationally. These include ‘Ties that bind us’ at The Cowrie Culture art gallery, Accra, Ghana (2021), ‘ART X Lagos’, Lagos Nigeria (2021) and a group exhibition at Circle Art Gallery, Nairobi, Kenya (2018).
